First United Presbyterian Church

Bereans
will look at "Old Testament Characters". We will see how God uses common people to make history. He loves to use the unassuming, unimportant people in the world. He only requires us to say with Mary, "Let it be to me according to your word". This class is led by Larry Dellitt.

Celebration
will continue with their study of the book of James. Those of all ages are welcome to join the class as we study God's Word and see how it applies to our lives. This class is led by Jack Wheeler.

Cleavers
will be doing a study by Kay Arthur-David and B J Lawson called "The Essentials of Effective Prayer." This class is led by Joe Knox.

Evangelical Theology
is reading/discussing What's So Great About Christianity by Dinesh D'Souza. This New York Times best seller is one of five written by this author. In it, he objectively examines the arguments and rhetoric in the current atheist led debate about God and Christianity. D'Souza meets the critics on their own terms and demonstrates how religious belief can be reconciled with reason and science. D'souza is referred to by some as "one of the great Christian apologists." Ravi Zacharias is quoted as saying that "Dinesh has done a brilliant job of exposing the distortions and contradictions of atheism and presenting the strong counter arguments of the Christian worldview." Our class finds such works helpful as we get to know the perspective of modern day critics of Christianity, consider how we might grow in our own faith and, learn how to become more effective witnesses for Christ. New members are encouraged and welcome. We learn a great deal from one another. This class meets in the conference room and is led by Mike Weger.

Koinonia
will continue our study of I Peter. When we complete I Peter we will continue in the New Testament and delve into the Gospel of John. This class is led by June Kalemkarian.

Photeinos
class will be studying Proverbs this fall. We will go through 10 studies, by William Mouser, using Learning to Live Wisely. This class is led by Ralph Tambaro.

College and Career
will be studying the gospel of John. John writes so that we may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing we may have life in His Name. He then reminds the church to see that what we have heard from the beginning (the gospel of Christ) remains in us. We will look at John’s testimony of what he saw and heard, the glory of the One and Only, that we also may believe in Christ, remain in Christ and have life in Christ. This class meets in the choir room and is led by Dave Pothoven and Robin Dollenbacher.
